Sustainability

I support a LCHF lifestyle, especially for those troubled with metabolic syndrome (insulin resistance) and all of the consequences that follow.  Allow me to explain what LCHF really means.  Low Carbohydrate, Healthy Fat means that 10% (or less) of your nutrition comes from carbohydrates, 60-70% from healthy fats, and the remaining 20-30% from protein.  There is no exact formula; your nutrition is specific to you.  The only thing consistent across all people is processed food should not part of the equation.

There is confusion from all of the dietary information available.  The FDA set the Standard American Diet (SAD). It has not changed since 1977.  Medical students and dieticians learn these standards and pass them along to their patients.  You see also charismatic entrepreneurs advertising on social media that their method (vegan/vegetarian, Mediterranean, DASH, Keto. Whole 30, Paleo, etc) is best. What should you believe?  Where do you start?

I was a believer and coached SAD, until I reached a pivotal point. Read more about the ah-ha moment that changed my life.

Back to my title, Sustainability:  Nutrition is 80% of your health. According to the current standard of care, LCHF works, but isn’t a sustainable lifestyle.  They say our body and brain “need” carbohydrates. Current research is unveiling that is not accurate. What isn’t a sustainable lifestyle is SAD.  It is in fact the excess carbohydrates that are making you sick.

The trajectory of American health is on a downward spiral. Obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer diagnoses continue to rise. Why?  The common link is SAD.  It is the Standard American Diet that is not sustainable for better health.

It’s time to take control of our health and step away from the SAD catastrophe. It’s time to recreate a lifestyle that optimizes our health.

If you are conflicted or don’t believe you can make changes away from SAD, reach out for support.  I can help you live healthier.  I can help you make the optimal changes that work best for you.
